Extended testing period for our App

Extended testing period for our App

When you release a major software upgrade or a new App, you try to strike the best balance between speed of delivery and robustness. Last week, we released a new mobile App with several upgrades, including the onboarding of two new sensors: Kaiterra Sensedge Mini (Type 3) and Awair Element (Type 4). We also recently introduced a KYC process in order to better protect the network from cheaters.

We decided to move very fast in the launch of all these upgrades. Inevitably, this called for some compression of the testing phase.

After the release of the App, a number of bugs emerged. Some where fixed quickly, but one issue related to inserting the sensor position for Kaiterra and Awair sensors needs a bit more time to be sorted. As a quick fix on the position issue, we asked people experiencing problems to (temporarily) insert the location of our French offices as their sensor position.

We take responsibility for these issues. The reality is that, conservatively, the App might not become fully stable till the end of November.

We have decided to consider November 2021 as an extended testing period for the App.

As a consequence, all data streams eligible in principle for rewards sent from Kaiterra Sensedge Mini and Awair Element sensors in November, including those with position errors, will earn PLANETS rewards.

We feel this is a fair way to thank our community for their commitment and support during this extended testing phase.

In the coming days, all Kaiterra Sensedge Mini and Awair Element sensors with position errors will be “forced” by us on the location of our French offices. This is obviously a temporary measure, so at the end of the extended testing period we’ll ask all PlanetWatchers with “forced” location to confirm the actual location of their sensor.

In order to implement carefully a number of urgent changes and upgrades,

Please note that the next reward distribution for all sensors (Type 1, 2, 3, and 4) will take place on Wednesday November 10 and will obviously include the PLANETS due for all eligible streams which got no rewards since the launch of the new App.

We are doing our best to serve the PlanetWatchers community in a transparent and fair manner. Our project is growing very fast and major announcements (as spoiled some time ago!) are about to come.

Thank you for your continuing commitment and keep watching the Planet!

  1. Thank you for all the work done and the constant updated information on the situation.

    Encouragement with work!

  2. The critics speak the loudest! Keep doing what you are doing and don’t work yourself to death! We all love what you are doing and some of us, I guess got too excited and that turned into anger. We love all that you do 🙂 have a nice day

  3. Thank you for the information, for working overtime on weekend, and for taking responsibility for the issue.
We can wait until you iron out the bugs.

  4. Dear Planet Team

The people (including me, unfortunately) are very impatient and expect everything to always go the way you want it to. I am sure that you are doing a great job and that it means a lot of work what you do. So I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for trying to make our planet better. Unfortunately for many it’s only about the rewards and not the air improvement and I think that’s where the impatience comes from. To make our earth better, however, takes patience. Thanks and keep up the good work PlanetWatch is a great project. Best greetings from Switzerland

  5. I know you guys are busy so this isn’t a complaint. I think there needs to be a good video maybe on how to connect everything properly. I have set up my Kaiterra and it’s streaming but I don’t know if everything is correct. I never had a location issue but I’m not receiving rewards. I also don’t know how we are supposed to send planets to Bitmart once we do receive them.

  6. Thank you PlanetWatchsas for the transparent and clear blog post, I know you’re all working very hard on the app and project! 🙏

  7. Thank you very much for your ongoing hard work and effort. It does not go unnoticed. Thank you for bringing this project into our lives. Keep saving the planet!

  8. Thank you PlanetWatchsas for your maximum support I want to thank you for a great job. I wish many happy customers.
