🟢 Streaming issues update

We have been performing extensive network testing, which we initially hoped to complete by the end of the 1st week of February. Even though we have made significant progress, we still need a bit more time to reach a stable solution and not just a quick fix. We appreciate your patience while we keep working round the clock to strengthen our infrastructure and improve user experience.
In the meantime, until we have solved all the remaining issues in a satisfactory way and in order to protect the community, Type 4 license sales will remain on hold.

Q&A with Claudio

Are rewards still being issued to sensors whose address is set to 50 Rue Gustave Eiffel?
In the past we had an issue with inserting the sensor location and, at that time, we advised people experiencing problems to set their sensor location to our headquarters. Yet, this bug was fixed long ago.
At the moment, rewards are still being issued to sensors which have the wrong locations. However, if you have not done it already, we ask you to update your sensor location now because we will soon stop rewarding sensors with the location set at PlanetWatch’s headquarters.
With our latest App version, it is easy to update your sensor location. Go to your sensor’s details page, choose the option “Change location” and pinpoint the right location on the map.

Any chance the Airqino will be available worldwide soon?
Sensor certifications for different countries are the manufacturer’s responsibility. We are engaging in discussions with the Airqino’s manufacturer to see if it is possible to expand the scope of countries covered, since the demand for this PlanetWatch-approved sensor is ever-growing all over the world. Meanwhile, please refer to the information on our website

Which Type of sensors were banned and for what reasons?
We recently announced that last month we banned 1k+ sensors from our network. As clearly stated in our General Terms of Sale and Delivery (Article 9) and in our License Agreement (Article 6), certain behaviours cannot be accepted and constitute a breach of PlanetWatch’s rules. Such as:

1) “Sensors meant for outdoor use which appear to be installed indoors, or vice versa”
Each sensor Type in our network has a specific purpose:
– Type 1 and Type 2 are meant to measure outdoor air quality;
– Type 3 and Type 4 Awair Element are meant to measure indoor air quality;
– Type 4 AtmoTube Pro, being a wearable, is meant to spend time both indoors and outdoors.

2) “More generally, all sensors which appear to be installed in unsuitable locations – e.g. in close proximity of pollution sources, in places with reduced air circulation, etc.”
All measurements have to be meaningful and relevant from a scientific standpoint. If you put a sensor very close to your car’s exhaust or in a basement with reduced air circulation, the data would be useless for assessing air quality and would bias our datasets.

3) “Two or more sensors of the same type operated by a single user in close proximity to one another, so that their aggregate data provide essentially the same information as obtained from the data of a single sensor”
There is no value in identical data streams from sensors sitting next to each other because the information is redundant. Building a so-called “sensor farm” and operating the sensors for the sole purpose of earning rewards is not acceptable in the context of PlanetWatch’s mission.

All users that engage in any of the practices listed above should no longer be part of the PlanetWatchers’ community and we reserve the right to disconnect their sensors and terminate their participation in the project. Banning is an extreme yet necessary measure to enforce compliance with PlanetWatch’s rules.
