November 15 Technology AMA

Hi PlanetWatchers!

Welcome to this first episode of Tech AMA where I’m going to answer your technical questions about the PlanetWatch ecosystem. Please, remember to submit only tech-related questions; all other questions will be sent to Claudio’s AMA.

Lt me introduce myself. I’m Stefano, full-stack developer at PlanetWatch and I’m currently working on the Explorer and the Map.

Before answering your questions, i would like to clarify some points which the community is discussing:

  • Awair Element rewards,
  • Miscellaneous issues for Kaiterra Sensedge Mini and Awair Element,
  • The difference between the e-commerce login and the PlanetWatch ecosystem login.

Awair Element rewards. We are aware that most users of Awair Element sensors are experiencing low rewards. We are currently investigating this issue. We apologize for the inconvenience and we are going to release further information soon.

Let’s talk about the new app. We know that some sensors had problems with the license activation through the new app. As we recently mentioned, November should be regarded as an extended the testing period for our App.

Although we know you are keen to activate your sensors fast, we ask you to make a little effort to help the ticketing system run smoothly. There are a few checks you can do before sending a ticket:

  • First, check if your wallet has the Planet Asset.
  • Second, check if your wallet has the sensor’s NFT with balance at 1.
  • Third, check if your wallet has the license’s NFT with balance at 1.

If one of these is not set up correctly, you won’t be able to stream any data from your device.

Then, if everything is correct but you are still not streaming any data, you have to check in the Kaiterra Dashboard or Awair home application if the sensors are connected and fully working. If they aren’t working, please check your internet connection and power.

Please note that in the first release of the app, some Kaiterra were activated with the wrong UDID. Please check if the UDID in the Kaiterra dashboard matches the name in the PlanetWatch App. If you don’t know where to find the UDID, read the guide linked in the description.

Let’s talk now about the difference between the e-commerce login and the PlanetWatch ecosystem login. For the time being, PlanetWatch has 2 different e-commerce platforms based on planetwatch.io and planetwatch.us. In order to buy a product you have to sign up on https://www.planetwatch.io/my-account/ or https://www.planetwatch.us/my-account/ depending on which website you are using.

This sign up has nothing to do with PlanetWatch ecosystem login. This is only for purchase purposes.

In order to log in the App or in the Explorer, you have to sign up on this page or by clicking on Sign Up in the official mobile App.

Now! Let’s start with your questions.
  • We’ve received several tickets about KYC and why we don’t allow users to reset the verification process, or why the verification failed at some point. Since the service is provided by an external company, we cannot directly reset the process, so you should please contact Synaps directly on Telegram (@KyllianSynapsSupport).

Now, why can a verification process fail? There are multiple potential reasons:

First of all, duplicate documents are not allowed. So you can’t successfully complete KYC in two different PlanetWatch accounts. Please note that, if you own two different PlanetWatch accounts (and by PlanetWatch account  we mean the PlanetWatch ecosystem account), we ask you to open a ticket to merge the duplicate account into your main account.

Another issue is related to our terms and conditions. As a matter of fact under age people can’t be PlanetWatchers. So any attempt will lead to a direct rejection.

In order to get the KYC process completed, remember to submit consistent documents. In fact, some users got their process rejected because they sent Synaps the liveness proof different from what the document shows, or the front and back of two different documents.

We are aware of the delays that these issues are causing so PlanetWatch decided to postpone the KYC deadline by a few weeks so your rewards will not be affected before this deadline.

  • Another question: will you revisit the pixel/tier system in the near future? It is kind of inaccurate. I noticed some forest/nature tiles are tier 1 and city/urban tiles are tier 2. Maybe you could add a button to let the users report the wrong pixel?

This is in our roadmap and will be analyzed in the first half of 2022

  • Next question is: will there ever be the possibility to àctivate all at once sensors for users that have a large amount of them?

Yes, this is in our roadmap and it will be available in Q1 2022

  • Another good question: are you going to fix the “last day streams count” for the Awair Element? I’m sending well over seven hundred and twenty streams per day and only about four hundred and fifty on average are being counted by you. thanks.

Thank you for your question. Let me clarify what exactly this “Streams sent” is.

For technical reasons, PlanetWatch receives way more than seven hundred and twenty streams per day because our algorithms do some data sampling in order to get the best, most accurate and valuable information from sensors. So, the “streams sent” field shows you how much data we receive. On the other hand, the “last day streams count” that you can find in the Explorer by selecting any of your sensors, shows how many streams were taken into account the previous day by the reward engine. So, these two fields are not related at all. We are going to change the “Streams sent” field to a sort of “valuable streams sent” field.

  • Let’s move on: Will you support Awair Wood edition for mining?

First, we don’t like the word “mining” as it does not reflect the goals of Planetwatch. Anyway, at the moment this version is not supported and it’s not in the roadmap for the time being.

  • This is a good one! Why don’t we have live tracking of our devices to ensure if they are working or not? I would like to be notified if my sensor stops streaming rewardable data.

Again, this is in our roadmap and we expect to deliver this feature during the first quarter of 2022. It will send a push notification to your mobile App.

  • When will we be able to add our correct addresses?

I believe you are talking about the location of the sensor. We are working on it. You will be updated when this feature will be available on the Official PlanetWatch App.

  • Within the Planetwatch App there is a field that shows total rewards for each sensor, it would be useful if the full amount was shown rather than only partial numbers, it seems like there’s enough space. Would this be possible to implement?

Thank you for your comment. We suggest you to report this type of bugs in the feed-back-and-more channel in the official Planetwatch Discord adding the following information:

If you are using a mobile device:

– Device model, OS version, a screenshot of the issue, short description of the issue.

– If you are using a desktop device:

– OS version, a screenshot of the issue, short description of the issue.

Note, if you see that the bug is previously reported, please do not write again.

In conclusion, since we received so many questions, we will end the AMA here. But don’t worry, we will see you soon on Thursday with the next Tech AMA.

Keep watching the Planet and get ready to help us make it greener by staking your Planets!

  1. Hello! Thanks for answers. I have a few questions. At the beginning, you write that there are many complaints about the small remuneration and you expect that you will fix everything. Also, your director said earlier that everyone will receive the missing remuneration. How then to understand what you are saying that getting half of the data is normal and as I understand it, this will continue. This means that in order to earn 23 planets, you need to send 1560 threads of which half will be counted. Which is not real. Explain how you are going to blow rewards using a specific example? For me, that’s 720 = 23 planets. But I sent you 720 streams. And will we receive planets that we did not receive for those sent data that your computer did not count? Thank you for your project.
