Element Community Resilience Plan

PlanetWatch is a network of sensors and people, but people come first. For this reason, in the last 4 weeks we have been working hard to deliver a plan which incentivizes the PlanetWatch Element community to continue supporting PlanetWatch. The challenge was to turn a setback into a display of community resilience. 

We can now disclose our Element Community Resilience Plan, worth over $10 M. 

Qualifying Element owners will have a choice between two (mutually exclusive) options. 

Option 1 Get two free discount vouchers for a total value of $300 per each qualifying Element sensor

• A 100$ voucher for purchases of PlanetWatch-compliant sensors from PlanetWatch or approved vendors, 
• A 200$ voucher for purchases of any combination of new licenses.

Vouchers will be issued in the form of tokens issued on the Algorand blockchain. This means that there will be opportunities to extract value from the vouchers without spending additional money!

In fact, you can choose if you want to:

• Redeem the vouchers and use the discounts for your own purchases
• Sell your vouchers to somebody else. Since the voucher is tokenized, you can trade it directly on the blockchain against payments in algos, USDT, Planets, etc, or use any other payment method that you trust. PlanetWatch will seek to facilitate the process and will keep this solution viable and attractive. 

Option 2 Get a full refund for each Type 4 license linked to a qualifying Element sensor

Refunds will be paid according to the schedule below:

• 1-year licenses -> refunds on July 29, 2022.
• 2-year licenses -> refunds on August 31, 2022.
• 3-year licenses -> refunds on Sep 30, 2022. 

Refunds will be issued in Planets and will match the full price of the license, based on the prevailing Planets/Euro exchange rate on the refund date as set above. This schedule was set by keeping into account treasury management and administrative constraints.

You must indicate your choice by June 30, 2022, 23:59 CET. If you fail to do so, you will lose any entitlement to either Option 1 or Option 2 benefits. The procedure to indicate your choice will be announced soon.

Voucher Expiry Date

All unused vouchers will expire on May 31, 2023

Sensor vouchers

These vouchers can be used for the following types of purchases: 

• Sensor orders currently on our waiting list
• New waiting list orders following the purchase of new licenses (Type 1, 2 and 3). Please note that the deadline to join our waiting lists has been extended until June 30, 2022, i.e. if you purchase new Type 1, Type 2 or Type 3 licenses before that date, you will be put on the corresponding sensor waiting list. 
• From time to time, additional PlanetWatch-compliant sensors which may be made available by one of our partner vendors. This may include Atmotube PRO (Type 4) sensors. We will give more info on this as soon as possible.

Please note that if you receive a sensor purchase email before the sensor voucher redeem system is active, you can then open a ticket and we will provide you with the voucher redeem code(s) if you want to use such voucher(s). License vouchers will be provided separately. Other users should just wait for the release of the voucher redeem system. 

License vouchers

You can use license vouchers on our e-commerce to claim a discount on purchases of one or more licenses (any type combination). If you only use a part of the voucher’s value in your first purchase, you will be able to use the leftover balance in further purchases, so vouchers work like gift cards. 

All the users that will choose Option 1 will see their license limit increased up to the number of their eligible Element sensors.

Provisions for users who transferred (or want to transfer) their Type 4 license from Element to Atmotube PRO

For all the users who transferred their licenses associated with Element sensors to Atmotube PRO devices, we will restore the full duration of your license on the Atmotube PRO device.

Please note that you can still ask us to switch your Type 4 license from Element to Atmotube PRO until the launch of the voucher redeem system (date to be announced). 

If you do this, you will not be eligible for discount vouchers. 

Instructions for users that submitted a ticket for the Type 4 licenses approval or that have a license, but were not able to onboard the sensor

Step 1:

• If you purchased one or more Type 4 licenses before we paused Type 4 license sales on January 27 and could not onboard your Element sensor(s), please submit a ticket by May 13, 6.00pm CET choosing the “Failed to Onboard Element” option and provide your Type 4 license(s) order number(s) and the number of Element sensors that you own.
• If you submitted Type 4 license purchase approval tickets in regard to Element sensors before March 18th, please wait until you receive an email with the outcome of your request.

Step 2:

Wait for our email requesting you to submit a ticket. You will then provide us with the Element developer token from your device and the wallet address where you want to receive rewards and vouchers if applicable. Please note that the wallet needs to have the Planets token already initialized.

Step 3:

We will perform some internal checks in order to be sure that the Element sensor is a genuine one. If so, we will:

1. Send you retroactively 5.4 Planets for the period covered by our short-term plan.
2. Send you discount vouchers as per Option 1.

Questions & Answers

Q: Do I really get a set of vouchers for EACH of my qualifying Element sensors?

A: Yes, you do, under the condition that you fulfill all requirements explained above. 

Q: How much time do I have to indicate my choice between Option 1 and Option 2 and how do I do this??

A: You must indicate your choice by June 30, 2022, 23:59 CET. If you fail to do so, you will lose any entitlement to either Option 1 or Option 2 benefits. The procedure to indicate your choice will be announced soon.

Q: I am currently receiving 5.4 Planets/day. Will this continue indefinitely?

A: As a temporary mitigation measure, since April 2 2022 Element people have been receiving 5.4 Planets/day funded by PlanetWatch. This was part of our short-term plan. As we are now releasing our Community Resilience Plan, we will stop sending the 5.4 Planets as of 9th May.

Q: I own several qualifying Element sensors. Can I stack my vouchers?

A: For license vouchers, yes. For sensor vouchers, this will be discussed later. 

Q: Do I need to pass KYC prior to claiming my vouchers?

A: Yes

Q: Where can I use my sensor vouchers?

A: You can certainly use them to buy sensors via our waiting list. In addition, you may soon be able to use them also for sensors not currently on our waiting list, such as (Type 4) Atmotube PRO. More info soon.
