Main announcements

🟢 Partnerships for potential data use cases

As already mentioned in the past, PlanetWatch is receiving several expressions of interest from companies that want to use our data. These range from very large organizations with established businesses to promising startups.
MapMetrics is one of the latter – a startup that is developing a free crypto navigation map designed to improve its users’ travels.

The project has not launched yet, so we are currently exploring partnership scenarios. It is a great potential use case for how the data generated by our network can be leveraged by a startup to raise awareness of environmental challenges.

🔵 PlanetWatch invited to Coindesk’s Consensus 2022

PlanetWatch will be at the most important blockchain, crypto, and web3 conference of the year: Consensus 2022.

Claudio will participate in a panel about Environmental Well-Being, which will be a great opportunity to talk about air quality and showcase PlanetWatch’s work.

The 30-minute long panel is scheduled for June 11th at 11 pm CET. Find further information on Consensus‘ website.

🟢 Stake for the Planet 2.0

Staking for the Planet is open again – meaning that by holding your PLANETS in your Algorand wallet, you can earn PW:Forest tokens. 

After accumulating 1.000 tokens, you will be able to exchange them for a tree at PlanetWatch’s forest (a joint venture with Treedom).

The 2.0 version of this initiative comes with a symbolic surprise: every time a PlanetWatcher plants one tree, we will burn 100 PLANETS.

Note: In order to participate, you need to visit Algostake, connect your Algorand Wallet (via MyAlgo or Pera Wallet) and opt-in to the Planets Stake pool that rewards in PW:Forest. Algostake will prompt you to add the PW:Forest asset, if it was not added previously.

🔵 Road map to decentralization

We will implement smart contracts with payments in PLANETS to manage two key aspects of the project that are currently relying on centralized and complicated processes:

• License sales
• API data access

We believe an important step will be burning a fraction of the proceeds from both of the processes above. 

However, as a decentralized project, we will listen to community proposals on these topics.

🟢 2021 Sensor Waiting List

We are also decentralizing sensor sales. Our new partner HeliumDeploy just started sending purchase emails to the people on our waiting list. 

It is important to note that if you are on the waiting list and want to use a discount voucher from the Element Community Resilience Plan, we would like to kindly ask you to wait until June 10 – the day the voucher engine will be live.

🔵 Element Community Resilience Plan

Regarding the Resilience Plan, we already delivered the PW:Credit tokens directly to Option 2 wallets of eligible people.

These credits are Algorand Standard Assets so you can do two things with them:

1. Wait for the time to convert them into discount vouchers
2. Trade them on the Algorand blockchain
